Uzbek Deputy PM Alisher Sultanov met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev last Friday. Deputy PM Alisher Sultanov extended greetings and best wishes of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to President Ilham Aliyev.
He noted that Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev always recalls with immense pleasure his meetings with President Ilham Aliyev and calls him a great son of Azerbaijani people.
The deputy PM underlined that the Uzbek President pointed to the need of making full use of opportunities for developing bilateral ties.
He said that the Uzbek President looks forward to visiting Azerbaijan, adding that active preparatory work is underway to make this trip fruitful.
Pointing to the recently launched Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Alisher Sultanov hailed the regional importance of the project.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked the Deputy PM for the warm words, hailing his meetings with his Uzbek counterpart. The head of state emphasized that the brotherly ties between the two countries and peoples are based on common history, culture and language.
Praising high level political contacts between the two countries, President Aliyev underscored the importance of mutual trust between the two leaders, as well as mutual support in international organizations.
President Aliyev also noted the significance of stepping up efforts to expand cooperation in a number of areas, including in trade, energy, and transport.
He thanked for the greetings by Shavkat Mirziyoyev and asked the deputy prime minister to extend his greetings and best wishes to the Uzbek President.
