A car carrying six children with disabilities to Umid Chirogi (Light of Hope) daycare center in Naryn district of Namangan province was involved in an accident on the morning of February 18. The National Agency for Social Protection under the President of Uzbekistan reported the accident.
An 11-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and died. The other children were taken to the district medical center, where they received first aid. Their condition is said to be satisfactory.
A daycare service for children with disabilities aged 3 to 18 years old, based on a public-private partnership, was introduced in Uzbekistan last year.
A private partner can provide transportation services for children living within a radius of more than 3 kilometers from the center.
Performance of terms and conditions by private partners is monitored by Inson social centers under the Social Protection Agency.
