Draft program for implementing the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy includes an item proposing life imprisonment for sexual assaults against persons under 14.
The item includes a step that would transfer the investigation of criminal cases involving sexual and other violence against minors to the exclusive jurisdiction of the prosecutor's office.
A corps of specially trained investigators and judges is proposed to be created to investigate and prosecute cases of violence and pressure against women and children. These steps are aimed at creating an effective system for protecting vulnerable segments of the population.
