The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul confirmed Turkish media reports of the discovery of a decapitated body of an Uzbek woman in the Şişli district.

Reportedly, on the evening of January 24, a man collecting paper discovered the body, wrapped in a sheet, in a waste container. He reported it to the police.

An investigation conducted jointly with law enforcement agencies, a forensic center, and the prosecutor's office confirmed the identity of the deceased as Uzbek citizen Durdona Khakimova. Sabah newspaper reports that she was 37 years old.

Two people attempting to fly from Turkey to Georgia have been detained in connection with the incident.

Birgün reported that the escapees were Uzbek citizens, aged 31 and 29. A third suspect, aged 58, was detained during the investigation.

Officials of the Uzbek diplomatic mission have contacted the deceased's relatives and are providing the necessary consular and legal assistance.
