Former Deputy Interior Minister, Major General Bekmurod Abdullayev has been arrested. The spokesman of the Interior Minister, Shohrukh Giyasov, did not deny the reports, but said that the Prosecutor General's Office was dealing with this matter.
The spokesman of the Prosecutor General, Hayot Shamsutdinov, did not want to answer the question, but did not deny that Bekmurod Abdullayev had been arrested.
Bekmurod Abdullayev worked as Deputy Interior Minister/Head of the Department of Public Security since April 2021, and was sacked on November 3, 2025.
By the presidential decree of the same day, Rustam Tursunov was also fired from his chief of the Department of Execution of Sentences job under the Interior Ministry.
In his address to parliament on December 26, 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev accused corrupt officials of "betraying reforms" and announced that a "state of emergency" would be declared against corruption in 2026.
