President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has accepted the invitation of the Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and will pay an official visit to Japan from December 18 to 20 to attend the inaugural Central Asia-Japan Summit, the presidential press service said.

During the Summit, the leaders will discuss prospects for cooperation in green economy and sustainable development, in the strengthening connectivity and regional partnerships, and human capital development.

The Summit is expected culminate in the signing of Tokyo Declaration.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev is also scheduled to meet with the Emperor Naruhito of Japan, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, parliamentary leadership, government officials, representatives of political parties, and the rectors of leading Japanese universities.

Reportedly, the bilateral agenda includes the ways to further expand and deepening the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.

The business program will include meetings with the heads of major Japanese companies and financial institutions. The parties will explore in depth the ways to expand trade and economic cooperation and to promote investment projects. Following the visit, a package of bilateral documents is expected to be signed.
