The Embassy of Bangladesh in Tashkent celebrated the glorious Victory Day of Bangladesh on 16 December 2025 at the Embassy. A reception was held in the evening, which was attended by a significant number of distinguished guests, composed of high-profile dignitaries from the academic, business, media and cultural circles of Uzbekistan.

In his remarks, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan H.E. Dr.Mohammad Monirul Islam articulated the meaning and significance of the occasion, highlighting the historical context and background of the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent and sovereign nation in the world map. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan for their support during the most critical time of their history. Ambassador Dr. Islam also reiterated the commitments of the Bangladesh government led by Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Muahmmad Yunus to build a discrimination free, progressive and prosperous Bangladesh. He also underlined the growing expansion of Bangladesh-Uzbekistan bilateral cooperation, which are solidly bound by shared historical legacy, cultural proximity and spiritual affinity. He wished for more dynamic and productive engagements between the two nations in the days to come. He also wished for peace, progress and prosperity for the peoples of Bangladesh and Uzbekistan in particular and the world at large.

Ahead of the reception, the Embassy organized a panel discussion titled “Bangladesh-Uzbekistan: Youth as Agents of Transformations”. Moderated by Ambassador Dr. Islam, the panel was addressed by Dr. Alisher Shayx, Advisor, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Dr. Muzaffar Djalalov, Vice-Rector, University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The speakers applauded the determination, courage, talents and creativity of the youths of Bangladesh and Uzbekistan, adding that they have remarkable potentials to play constructive roles in promoting sustainable developments in their own countries and beyond. They emphasized the need for intensifying exchanges between the youth communities of the two countries, especially in the fields of agriculture, textile, IT, science and innovation.

The panel discussion was attended by students from a number of prominent Universities of Uzbekistan, including University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent State University of Law, Alfraganus University, Diplomat University and Webster University.  The active and spontaneous participation of the audience have turned the event interactive and engaging.

The celebration ended with wishing each other a happy Victory Day of Bangladesh and a happy New Year 2026.
