MPs of the Legislative Chamber heard a report from the Minister of Water Resources Shavkat Khamrayev Wednesday. He spoke about the implementation of the Water Resources Management and Irrigation Sector Development Program for 2025-2028 and the progress of introduction of water-saving technologies.

Shavkat Khamrayev reported that over 40 billion cubic meters of water were supplied for agriculture in 2025 and that some results in water conservation had been achieved through pre-established reserves in reservoirs, the concreting of canals, and the expanded use of water-saving technologies.

"However, today our water reserves, including transboundary reservoirs are by 6.5 billion cubic meters less than in the same period last year. Inland reservoirs have accumulated 2.7 billion cubic meters less water," Shavkat Khamrayev underscored.

He emphasized that from 2020 to 2024, 60 trillion soums of budget funds and $622 million in foreign investment had been contributed to improve water efficiency and expand water supply coverage. As a result, by 2025, water-saving technologies have been implemented on almost 60% of all irrigated areas. To continue these efforts, the Water Resources Management and Irrigation Sector Development Program for 2025–2028 has been approved.
