At a government meeting the president Shavkat Mirziyoyev was provided information on steps to transform neighborhoods into areas free of unemployment and poverty and job creation program, the presidential press service said.
Reportedly, the poverty rate was expected to decrease from 8.9% at the beginning of the year to 6% in the year-end, with a goal set to reduce this figure to 4.5% for next year.
To achieve these goals, objectives have been set for comprehensive organization of work in neighborhoods: expanding the coverage of services aimed at sustainable employment, creating sources of income, vocational training, and engaging them in entrepreneurship.
The project-based approach aims to reach 1 million low-income citizens through Partnership between Employment Agencies and Employers, Equal Opportunities - Inclusive Employment, Towards a Sustainable Future, 20 Local Brands, One Contour - One Product, Development of Entrepreneurship in Neighborhoods, Improving Irrigation of Leased Lands and Household Plots, Renovation of Old Orchards, 1,000 Hectares of Fruit Orchards, Export Cooperatives, and other programs.
Steps to reduce poverty and unemployment through the implementation of small and medium-sized projects in neighborhoods were presented, including infrastructure development in border and enclave areas, the creation of 24-hour streets, tourist neighborhoods, industrial micro-centers, and the development of coastal and road infrastructure.
The progress of the 2025 employment program, the development of a plan for 2026, and issues related to reducing informal employment were also discussed.
President Mirziyoyev gave directives to responsible agencies to ensure targeted solutions to local problems, improve the effectiveness of their work by taking into account the real needs of the population, and ensure a high level of accountability in implementing tasks to reduce unemployment and poverty.
