On December 2, 2025, the Romanian Embassy in Tashkent hosted a gala reception to celebrate Romania's National Day. The event was attended by officials from various ministries and agencies, members of the diplomatic corps, academics, cultural figures, and representatives of the business community.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan was represented by the Deputy Minister Muzaffar Madrahimov. During the celebration, guests were treated to a photo exhibition commemorating the 107th anniversary of the Great Union of Romania, as well as video footages about the country's cultural heritage and tourist attractions.

The Romanian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Daniel Cristian Ciobanu emphasized the successful completion of events this year to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and Uzbekistan (October 6, 1995): an exchange of congratulatory letters between the Foreign Ministers of Romania and Uzbekistan, a lecture delivered by the Romanian Ambassador at the Tashkent State University of Economics, and an exhibition of paintings and installations titled "Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Romania," organized by the Romanian Embassy in Tashkent, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, and the Kamoliddin Behzod National Institute of Arts and Design.

"A key event this year was the signing of the Protocol Amending the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of Uzbekistan on Cooperation in Road Transit Transport (Bucharest, June 6, 1996) by myself and the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan on November 27, 2025, in Tashkent. This document is of great importance," stated Daniel Cristian Ciobanu.

The Ambassador underscored the significant upward trend in bilateral trade over the past four years and the growing interest of Romanian companies and agencies in attracting labor from Uzbekistan to Romania. Moreover, the number of Romanian tourists visiting Uzbekistan is also on the rise. This is a convincing indicator of the existing potential.

The Ambassador thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan for its valuable support of the numerous public and cultural diplomacy events organized this year by the Romanian Embassy in cooperation with various partners.

Daniel Cristian Ciobanu noted that Romania, as a member state of the European Union, will continue to be a strong supporter of the development of relations between the European Union and Uzbekistan.
