Chinese naional, who tortured a cat by pouring boiling water on it in Tashkent, was sentenced to 5 days in prison, the Mehr va Oqibat (Care and Love) animal protection society said on Sunday.
Reportedly, a woman called the society's hotline and said that she had seen her neighbor, a Chinese national pour boiling water on a cat on several ocssions, hold it in a bowl.
The Mehr va Oqibat society contacted the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Chinese Embassy with a demand to hold the man accountable and consider his deportation from Uzbekistan.
On September 18, the Yakkasaroy Criminal Court considered the case of cruelty to animals and sentenced the man to 5 days in administrative arrest. Also, on September 20, the Tashkent City Criminal Court considered the Chinese man's appeal and withheld the ruling and did not change the type of punishment to a fine.
The Mehr va Oqibat society added that it would now seek the Chinese man's deportation from Uzbekistan.
