The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya. At the meeting, the parties discussed the ways to enhance the Uzbekistan–Japan strategic partnership ties and to expand multifaceted cooperation.

They commended the rapidly developing active dialogue and practical cooperation and highly valued the successful outcomes of today’s first meeting of the two countries’ foreign ministers within the Strategic Dialogue framework.

The parties also focused on deepening political dialogue and promoting concrete projects in trade, economy, investment, financial-technical areas, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.

They both expressed support for expanding the Uzbekistan–Japan Center and the future plans to open a joint university with Japan’s major universities.

The parties also exchanged views on international and regional issues, and the preparations for the upcoming Central Asia+Japan Summit.
