The British Council, the UK’s organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, celebrates a finalist from Uzbekistan in the prestigious Study UK Alumni Awards 2025.
The Study UK Alumni Awards recognise the outstanding achievements made by international UK alumni and celebrate UK higher education, including the impact it has on successful individuals and those around them.
Now in its 12th year, the Alumni Awards are a truly global award: more than 1,300 applications were received from alumni in over 100 countries, representing more than 130 UK universities. Among them is Sirojiddin Olimov, finalist from Uzbekistan in the “Culture and Creativity” category, who advanced to the final stage of an extensive judging process of the 28 global finalists.

Sirojiddin, CEO of the ‘Mutolaa’ App, is transforming Uzbekistan’s literary landscape by promoting reading and creativity. With over one million users, the app offers access to more than 3,000 digitised books in audiobook and high-quality ePub formats, making Uzbek literature widely available. Sirojiddin’s work supports local authors, translates Uzbek works into English, and bridges literature and modern media by producing book-based films viewed by millions. His vision is to foster a reading culture and bring Uzbek literature to global audiences.
Award winners and finalists are leaders in their fields who have used their experience of studying at a UK university to make a positive contribution to their communities, industries and countries. The global Alumni Award winners will be announced by the end of August and invited to visit the UK for professional networking in early 2026.
For those interested in applying this year, applications open on 1 September 2025 and close on 16 October 2025. Eligible applicants will be considered for both national Alumni Awards in participating countries and the global Alumni Awards.
