The acting chief of the Tashkent’s Main Transport Management and Road Transport Infrastructure Development department, Allayor Norbutayev, at a session of the city council of people's deputies Tuesday proposed to launch night bus routes in Tashkent.
According to him, the initiative is contained in the presidential decree stipulating the movement of buses along tourist streets and other main facilities from 22:00 to 6:00 am.
"We propose that the routes pass through the airport, railway stations, metro stations, tourist streets, shopping and entertainment centers, large farmer's markets, student dormitories and hospitals," he added.
The routes are planned to be launched in two stages with an interval of 30 minutes. In total, Norbutayev noted, 15 routes will be organized, with 54 buses running.
Night buses are planned to be painted red, as opposed to the green daytime buses, and designated with special numbers T1, T2, etc., where "T" stands for Tungi Bus (Night Bus). According to Norbutaev, this decision was made by the Tashkent mayor’s office.
