Kantar Research, a division of WPP, was awarded a contract in May 2017 for setting up of a television audience measurement system in Uzbekistan.
The company is currently installing equipment necessary to start measurements.
According to the project, in the first two years the measurement system will cover about 1.5 thousand viewers in 400 families in cities with a population of more than 200 thousand inhabitants.
Families will be selected based on internationally accepted methods and then they will be equipped with special devices, "people-meters" to fix the time and frequency of viewing the airtime of TV channels.
Starting from the third year, the pool of households-participants of measurement will be increased to 550 families in Uzbekistan’s cities of with a population of more than 100 thousand people.
