The Tashkent Police Department (TPD) awarded capital the Tashkent city resident Vladimir Avdiyants, who on May 19 helped detain the man who attacked a police officer with a knife at the Yunusabad farmer market.
The suspect, A. Khasanov, fled the scene of the attack on a bus. He was holding a knife. A team of police officers detained him as he was exiting the vehicle. Vladimir Avdiyants helped them by grabbing the man from behind and throwing him to the ground.
At the ceremony at the TPD, Vladimir Avdiyants was extended gratitude and was offered 10 million soums of cash award.
By an order of the Interior Minister, the patrol police officers who were also involved in the arresting of the attacker and evacuation of the bus passengers, Sergeant Samat Karzhanbayev and Private Sardor Abzalov, were also awarded with the For Excellent Service badges. As a reward, the local policeman Lieutenant Uktam Normatov was awarded the senior lieutenant rank.
