The program of the trip of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Budapest commenced with a meeting with the CEOs and chiefs of major companies and banks in Hungary, the presidential press service said.
The Hungarian delegation comprised top managers of OTP Bank, BDPST Group, 4iG, Indotek, MVM, Duna Group, MOL Group, H2O Consortium, Inpark, Wizz Air and many others.
In his remarks, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the symbolism of the beginning of his official visit with a meeting with Hungarian business leaders.
He commended the dynamic upward trend in direct Hungarian investment in the Uzbek economy. OTP Bank earlier previously purchased one of the largest banks in Uzbekistan and supported the new plans of OTP to set up a joint venture for car loans, launch a business financing program, and build a big poultry cluster.
In order to expand industrial cooperation and encourage the transfer of technologies, a special industrial zone for European companies is being set up in the Tashkent province. The managing of this zone will be transferred to the Hungarian operator Inpark.
In order to expand economic partnership, the President of Uzbekistan outlined a number of priority areas. Among them: co-financing of joint projects and support for the export of finished products to promising markets in third countries.
He emphasized importance of strengthening transport connectivity, in particular, increasing freight traffic and developing direct flights between the two countries.
The head of our state highly valued the interest shown by Hungarian companies in implementing joint projects.
During the meeting, the parties reached deals on new projects in the modernization of transport and road infrastructure, the construction of logistics centers and utility networks, production units for building materials, finished textiles, chemical products, and pharmaceuticals.
In conclusion, Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed holding meetings in this format on a regular basis.

Following the event, a ceremony of exchanging agreements on the implementation of priority investment projects was held in the presence of the Uzbek leader.
