Uzbekistan ranked 107th in the latest UN Human Development Index (HDI) for 2024. The HDI is a statistic of life expectancy, education, and per capita income indicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development. A country scores higher HDI when the lifespan is higher, the education level is higher, and the GDP per capita is higher.

Uzbekistan’s HDI value for 2024 is 0.740— which put the country in the high human development category—positioning it at 107 out of 193 countries and territories between South Africa and Bolivia.

From Central Asia, Kazakhstan ranked 60th, Turkmenistan - 95th, Kyrgyzstan - 117th and Tajikistan - 128th. Iceland topped the index, followed by Norway and Switzerland.
