As of May 6 of this year, there were 96 airlines in the CIS countries, with about 1,100 strong fleet, the Airfleets.net said.

Russia tops the ranking with the largest aircraft fleet on 748 planes owned by 39 airlines.

Uzbekistan ranks second by airlines on 12 air carriers and is third by the aircraft size on 93 planes.

Kazakhstan has 10 airlines with 98 aircraft, making it third in the CIS.

Kyrgyzstan has 9 airlines and 21 aircraft, Ukraine has 8 airlines and 22 aircraft, Moldova has 6 airlines and 15 aircraft, and Armenia has 5 airlines and 13 aircraft. Azerbaijan has 2 airlines registered with 42 aircraft, Turkmenistan also has 2 airlines, but with 18 aircraft. Belarus has 2 airlines and 15 aircraft, Tajikistan has only 1 airline with a fleet of 6 aircraft.

By carriers, the top 3 are all Russian airlines - Aeroflot (166), Rossiya (116) and S7 Airlines (71).
