As part of WWII Victory events in Moscow on May 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Russian president Vladimir Putin.

The two leaders exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II.

They focused on the ways to further expand and strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance ties between Uzbekistan and Russia, including the implementation of agreements reached during the Russian president’s visit to Uzbekistan in May last year.

The counterparts emphasized the importance of adopting coordinated measures to maintain the current pace of trade, economic, and investment cooperation and focused on expediting the preparation and implementation of projects in priority sectors of the economy, as well as encouraging interregional cooperation.

The leaders commended the effectiveness of humanitarian exchanges, especially in the fields of culture, art, science, and education and also exchanged views on international issues.
