The Cabinet of Ministers issued the Penalty Point Assessment System for Traffic Violations Resolution introducing a penalty point system for traffic violations effective as of June 1. Drivers will be assigned from 0.2 to 2 penalty points, but solely for violations recorded by traffic police officers. Drivers who get 12 points within 12 months will be banned from driving for a period of 6 months to 3 years.
According to the document, the points will be added up automatically through the E-jarima system without human involvement.
Violations detected by photo and video recording systems will not be used for penalty points.
Drivers who do not commit any traffic violations within a 12-month period will be rewarded: the first violation committed after this clean period will not result in any penalty points.
If a driver receives a penalty point but avoids committing any further violations for the next six months, two points will be deducted from the total.
If a driver gets 12 points within 12 months, the relevant documents will be automatically submitted to court without human involvement, and the driver will be notified via SMS. Thereafter, the court will rule to suspend the driver’s license for a period ranging from six months to three years.
