The Deputy Transport Minister Ilhomjon Abdugafarov, along with officials of Capital Transport Infrastructure Development Authority and the company ToshShahartranshizmat, met with the chief of the Soft Lending Department at China’s EximBank Mo Guo to discuss the project’s financing details.

During the meeting, the parties also explored the possibility of an swift procurement of 1,000 large buses powered by compressed natural gas for Nukus and other provincial centers.

The electric bus purchase scheme is part of the state for the 2025 National green transport and environmental protection development program. In February, the Chinese company Yutong was awarded contract to supply 200 electric buses for Tashkent public transport, competing against BYD Auto Industry and ZhongTong Bus Holding.

In July 2024, Ilhom Makhkamov outlined plans to procure 1,000 buses for provincial centers and 200 electric buses from BYD for Tashkent city. Then, in mid-January, the Minister of Transport announced the president’s instruction to supply an additional 1,000 new buses to Tashkent in 2025.
