In the Urgut district of the Samarkand province, the principal of school #71 and his accomplice were sentenced to imprisonment for illegal drug trafficking.
According to the case, citizen F. Kh., 39 has been working as the principal of this school. In early August 2024, he made an agreement with a resident of his neighbourhood, Sh. A., to sell a large batch of opium in the Samarkand province.
As the verdict reads, Sh. A. received about 1 kg of opium from an unidentified person with the condition of payment after the sale. On November 27, both were arrested by law enforcement officers while attempting to sell drugs to a fictitious buyer for 12 thousand dollars. The appointed forensic chemical examination found the substance to be weighing 921.36 grams.
At the trial, principal F. Kh. partially pleaded guilty, stating that he obtained the opium at the request of an acquaintance from the district department of preschool and school education and was not actually seeking to do this. He expressed remorse and asked the court for a more lenient sentence.
Sh. A. also partially pleaded guilty, explaining that he agreed to help F. Kh. because he promised to find a job for his wife.
Both were found guilty under Part 5 of Article 273 through Article 25 of the Criminal Code (Illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large quantities). F. Kh. was sentenced to 10 years and 2 months in prison, Sh. A. - to 11 years.
F.Kh. worked as school principal from 2019 to 2024. In 2023, he was convicted of fraud and sentenced to 2 years and 2 months of correctional labor, of which 1 year and 3 months remained unserved.
His accomplice Sh.A. also had a criminal record: in 2023, he was sentenced by the Akdarya district criminal court to 10 months house arrest for intentional infliction of minor bodily harm. In February 2024, he was released on parole.
