Uzbekistan Airways’ fleet will be significantly replenished to meet tourists flow. This was announced at a gov’t meeting on April 9 chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, his spokesman Sherzod Asadov said today.

The head of state said that following a recent state visit to France on March 11-13, an agreement had been reached to purchase 14 modern Airbus aircraft and leasing five more of them. 

In addition, negotiations have begun with Boeing on the purchase of 12 aircraft, he added. 

The president instructed ministries and departments to effectively take advantage of the opportunities that are opening up and to calculate now which countries and cities to launch flights to and how many tourists are planned to attract. 

In January, the CEO of Uzbekistan Airways, Shukhrat Khudaykulov unveiled plan to purchase 14 long-haul Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft for $2 billion, with deliveries due for 2029-2032. 

In November 2022, Uzbekistan also signed purchase agreements for 17 Airbus and ATR aircraft for almost 800 million euros.
