The US Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick urged Uzbek nationals illegally staying in the United States to return to their homeland Thursday.
The video footage begins with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statement: "The Trump administration is committed to stopping illegal migration and protecting our borders and citizens."
"As we have seen over the past several years, many Uzbeks have entered the United States through dangerous routes through Mexico. As a result, thousands of Uzbeks are now illegally staying in the United States," the ambassador said.
"I would encourage these individuals to voluntarily return to Uzbekistan. Otherwise, they face imprisonment in the United States or deportation," the diplomat emphasized.
The administration of President Donald Trump is negotiating with several countries in Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe to accept deported migrants.
