The Cabinet of Ministers issued a resolution on March 28 postponing the effect of new prices for gas and electricity until May 1. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered to postpone the rise in tariffs in order to support the public and business entities and to ensure a reliable supply of energy resources to the public, economic sectors and business entities.
Originally, the second phase of the price rise was planned for April 1.
The first phase was in May last year, when social limit were introduced. The base (within the social limit) rate of 1 kWh of electricity for the public rose from 295 to 450 soums (+52.5%), 1 cubic meter of gas - from 380 to 650 soums (+71%). Once consumption goes above the limit, the price rises several times.
From May 1, the base rate for electricity (within 200 kWh per month) will increase by 33.3% - from 450 to 600 soums, and for gas - by 53.8%, from 650 to 1000 soums.
