2,570 passenger cars worth $44.8 million were imported to Uzbekistan in February 2025, the Customs Committee said in a monthly report today.
While in February last year, 7,252 passenger cars worth $158.8 million were imported, meaning, automobile imports declined by 3.5 times in value and 2.8 times in volume.
Imports of hybrid cars saw the largest drop, by 21 times. The decrease in the import of EVs and conventional engine cars was 2 times and 2.8 times, respectively.
It was reported in January, car imports to Uzbekistan had decreased by more than 7 times in value and 5.6 times in volume.
It should be noted that from November 1, 2024, technical tests of imported cars began at the Piskent landfill, not at the customs area. In addition, electromagnetic compatibility testing was introduced for cars imported individually or by businesses. The fact that the available capacity of the landfill is several times less than the real demand may be affecting the sharp decline in import volumes.
