Over 160 people in Romitan district in Bukhara province got food poisoning at a wedding, with 94 people admitted to the hospital, the Uzbek Health Ministry said.

According to the Ministry, all patients on the evening of September 25 were at a wedding and ate tukhum barrack (dumplings with egg stuffing) and were later diagnosed with "food poisoning".

The Ministry confirmed that all patients were in satisfactory condition and are reportedly being provided with qualified medical care.

The outbreak prompted an investigation by the heads of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care, the Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Control, the Research Institute of Epidemiology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and leading experts who headed to Romitan.
