1,796 passenger cars worth a total of $31 million were imported to Uzbekistan in January 2025, the State Customs Committee said in a report.
For comparison, during the same period last year, imports stood at 10,152 cars worth a total of $221.4 million.
The import of hybrid cars decreased the most — by 31 times, while EVs imports also plummeted by 6.7 times, and that of conventional also dropped by 2.5 times.
As reported, from November 1, 2024, imported cars began to undergo technical tests not at customs, but at the test site in Pskent. An electromagnetic compatibility test has also been introduced for imported cars. The capacity of the auto test site is significantly inferior to real needs, which probably caused a sharp reduction in import volumes.
