Uzbekistan has introduced administrative liability for parents for sending their children to illegal religious schools. According to the newly adopted amendments to the Guarantees of Children's Rights Law, parents are entitled to raise their children in accordance with their religious and moral beliefs.

However, it is now prohibited to send them to study in unregistered religious organizations or to persons who do not have the appropriate education and permits from the central body regulating the activities of religious organizations.

A new article in the Administrative Liability Code establishes that if parents or guardians send a child in such education, they wshall be fined for from 5 to 10 BCUs (1,875,000 - 3,758,000 soums). In the event of a repeated violation within a year, the fine shall be raised to 10-15 BCUs (3,758,000 - 5,625,000 soums), and administrative detention for up to 15 days is also possible.

Earlier, Sadyr Japarov signed a law restricting the wearing of clothing that covers the face in public places. Exceptions were made for professional and medical cases. Also banned was "daawat" - visiting homes to attract people to religion, but this practice is still allowed in public places.
