The Border Troops of the State Security Service (DXX) together with the Customs Committee stopped another attempt to smuggle a large batch of drugs into the country.
On February 9, 2025, at the Termiz Avtoyullari international checkpoint in Surkhandarya province, an inspection of a truck in transit through the country found 180 bags containing 22,500 household brooms made from broom sorghum.
A more detailed inspection revealed that polyethylene bundles about 25 cm long, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape similar in color to the broom itself, were secretly inserted into the handles of 2,986 brooms. When these packages were opened in the presence of witnesses, a substance with a strong odor similar to a drug was found in some of them.
Analysis showed that some 2,984 packages contained a total 612 kg of hashish.
