Uzbekistan’s draft state program for 2025, which has been posted for public input, includes provisions on sustainable project financing aimed at decarbonizing the economy and adapting to climate change:
- national program will be developed to form a green financing system in Uzbekistan and steps will be taken to establish a green economy fund Before December 1, 2025;
- steps will be taken to attract preferential loans and grants to support green and low-carbon development projects from the following sources starting from 2025:
- From the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - 200 million euros in stages;
- From the World Bank - $10 million dollars to reduce methane emissions in the energy sector;
- Through the Global Green Growth Institute, the Korea International Cooperation Agency will provide technical assistance to strengthen green cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea - $6.5 million;
- Within the framework of the World Bank's iCRAFT project - $7.5 million through the sale of 500,000 tons of reduced greenhouse gases;
- From the German Society for International Cooperation - €20 million for greening industry and reducing emissions of nitric acid producing enterprises into the atmosphere;
- procedure for assessing national green economy projects aimed at ensuring transparency in the implementation of green economy projects will be implemented Before September 2025;
- practice of assessing the green components of projects and their compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals will be established by integrating new projects based on public-private partnerships worth more than $10 million with the Source international platform and the PIERS system Before November 2025;
- steps will be taken to establish an independent greenhouse gas verification organization (validation and verification company) within the framework of the national transparency system;
- with the technical assistance of the European Union, action plans for low-carbon development will be developed in the cities of Bukhara, Namangan, Nukus, Urgench and Guzar district, and energy efficiency improvements will be ensured in 10 social facilities Before 2026.
