Uzbekistan seeks to expand cooperation with Canada, Brazil and other major countries of the American continent. This is envisaged by the draft annual 2025 state program, which has been posted for public input.

In particular, the draft has proposed to develop a proposal to open Uzbekistan’s consulate general in Canada.

Uzbekistan-Canada diplomatic relations were previously carried out through the embassy in Moscow; in 2024, the operations were moved to Astana. Alan Hamson is the Ambassador of Canada to Kazakhstan, and concurrently in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. While, Furqat Sidikov is the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States, Brazil and Canada.

Among other proposals are the implementation of joint projects and organization of various economic events by attracting companies from Brazil, Canada, Argentina and other countries to Uzbekistan.

The draft state program also implies expanding cooperation with Cuba in the healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

The draft has also proposed to build cooperation and exchange of experience with relevant ministries and government agencies of Latin American countries that have developed agriculture.

According to the draft state program, it is planned to ensure the participation of representatives of the cultural and sports spheres in various events and festivals held in Uzbekistan and Latin American countries to develop bilateral relations in the field of culture and sports.

The draft proposals are to be to implemented before the end of 2025.
