The Senate at its session discussed and passed the Amendments to the Article 135 of the Criminal Code stipulating harsher punishment for human trafficking.
Harsher penalties are stipulated for human trafficking through kidnapping, violence or the threat of violence, or other forms of coercion.
In addition, during the discussion, the senators noted that the amendments had proposed to more severe penalties for persons who commit the crime of human trafficking against a pregnant woman.
The senators underscored that the amendments would serve to prevent and effectively combat crimes related to human trafficking, establish proportionate penalties for such acts, and effectively protect the rights of children and women.
