"Large-scale reforms and renewal" in the system of police bodies of Uzbekistan will continue, president Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in his congratulatory address to police officers and veterans on their professional holiday.

"Today, in the age of rapid progress, the organization of the daily work of police bodies based on innovative approaches, digital technologies and scientific achievements is an important factor in further strengthening the rule of law in the country," Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored.

"It is necessary to apply effective mechanisms to combat new types of crimes and offenses committed with the help of information tools, to conduct a targeted fight against crime in red category criminality mahallas based on scientific approaches, to improve the quality of investigation, forming a firm confidence in its fairness among the population," he emphasized.

"In a word, our people must definitely feel the practical results of reforms in the police system in their daily lives," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The president underscored the merits of the Police Department offices "in ensuring peace and stability, tranquility in the country, combating crime and preventing offenses," as well as the efforts in the country aimed at turning the Police Department "into a truly people's professional structure serving the interests of its country and people."

"In recent years, important results have been achieved in creating an atmosphere of security, peace and tranquility in all mahallas," Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored. To this end, digital technologies are being introduced into the activities of prevention, probation and patrol inspectors, and the level of knowledge of offices is being increased.

"In order to ensure the healthy development of the younger generation and its prosperous future, we have adopted and decisively begun to implement a national strategy aimed at preventing drug addiction, developing strong immunity to it in young people, and suppressing illegal drug trafficking, especially their distribution via the Internet," the head of state said.

In connection with the Day of Police Officers, the president signed a decree on awarding a group of offices. In particular, the honorary title of "Honored Youth Mentor" was awarded to the adviser to the Minister of Police, former head of the Ministry of Police (1991-2006) Zakirzhon Almatov.

Mardlik (Bravery) Order was posthumously awarded to Nodirzhon Mardonkulov, senior local inspector of the police department of the Dangara district of the Fergana province, who died on August 26 from wounds received while on duty.
