Today, the Termez State University hosted the opening ceremony of the “Termez Youth Hub”, which has been established by United Nations Development Programme as part of the project funded by the Government of Japan.

The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Mr Abdukodir Toshkulov, Rector of Termez State University, H.E. Mr Takashi Hatori, Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan and Ms Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan.

In Uzbekistan, where 60% of its population are under the age of 30, the issues of youth and creating opportunities for them to fulfill their potentials is of particular importance. The youth are the agents of the positive changes, generators of the innovation, ideas and development solutions and their voices are becoming ever imperative in the country. The declaration of 2024 as the Year of Support for Youth and Business highlighted this once again, raising the national efforts in the youth policy to the new level aimed to ensure human rights and build a strong economy.

The network of specialized centers is crucial to amplify national efforts to empower young people. The “Termez Youth Hub” is one of the key initiatives of UNDP in Uzbekistan to create empowering environment for the young people of Surkhandarya region offering more opportunities aligned with the Government programme for the Year of Support for Youth and Business in Uzbekistan. The hub is designed to offer a range of services, including vocational trainings in IT, entrepreneurship, and foreign languages. It aims to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that young people have the tools they need to thrive.
