The Afghan authorities have reduced the fees and charges for Uzbek freight carriers from, the press service of the Ministry of Transport said.

In particular, the fee, previously 12 thousand Afghanis (about 182 dollars) for crossing the Amu Darya bridge, has been downed to at 7,000 Afghanis (about 106 dollars) since September 28.

The fee collected for the entry of a truck into Afghanistan was previously 5,000 Afghanis (about 76 dollars), and is currently 3,500 Afghanis (about 53 dollars).

The parties discussed the reduction of fees on July 4 at the talks between the Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov and the Afghan delegation headed by Afghan Minister of Industry and Trade Nuriddin Azizi in Tashkent.

The two-way trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan for January-September topped US$ 762.1 million, which is 23.9% more than to the same period last year ($615.3 million).

Earlier at the end of August, the Termez International Trade Center was inaugurated on the border with Afghanistan. The free trade zone allows accepting US dollars, euros, rubles and yuan as payment. There is a procedure for visa-free entry through a special corridor for up to 15 days, that is, citizens of Afghanistan can visit this center without the Uzbek visa.
