Three people, including two Russian nationals, were found dead in a Tashkent hotel Sunday, the spokesman to the Prosecutor General's Office, Khayot Shamsutdinov said.

On Tuesday, the Russian channel Baza reported that Russian Inessa Papernaya, 47, who worked for the Profile magazine and as a columnist for Lenta.ru, and her friend, 45, died in Karaman Palace Hotel. The Prosecutor General's Office confirmed this information.

Meanwhile, reportedly, an Uzbek national, 48, was also found dead in the bathroom of another hotel room.

According to the preliminary forensic diagnosis, the death of three people was caused by poisoning of unknown etiology.

A criminal case has been opened under Performance of work or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements charge, with investigation underway.

Baza's added that the deceased could have been poisoned by gas that got into the ventilation system after cleaning the pool.
