President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the Uzbeks on the Day of the Uzbek Language, which is marked on October 21 since 2020.

"The national language is an invaluable, enormous wealth that reflects the history of the people, its identity, spiritual world and culture. The native language, which united us into a single people in the most difficult, full of trials periods of our ancient history, which carried our unfading primordial values through the centuries, is truly worthy of love and respect," the head of state said.

He noted that in recent years, the documentation of many departments has been translated into the state language, the names of more than 100 thousand geographical objects have been included in the state register, in the regions more than 150 thousand units of external advertising and information have been brought into compliance with the requirements of the legislation in this area.

In order to adopt new concepts and various terms into official circulation, the activities of the Commission on Terms have been improved, scientific criteria in this area have been developed.

Since 2023, a system of linguistic examination has been adopted to check draft regulatory legal acts, which serves the thorough preparation of relevant documents in accordance with the requirements and methodology of the state language.

A national testing system has been introduced to determine the level of knowledge of the Uzbek language by candidates for leadership positions; in a short period of time, about 1,500 out of more than 3,000 applicants were issued certificates of proficiency in the state language.

The Uzbek Language Development Fund under the Cabinet of Ministers has published encyclopedias, dictionaries and manuals of 58 titles in thousands of copies. The website "Explanatory Dictionary of the Uzbek Language" has been created.

From January 1, 2025, teachers of the Uzbek language in secondary schools who have a national certificate will be paid a monthly bonus of 50% of their salary.

"I would like to especially note the important work being carried out to preserve the language, traditions and spiritual values of representatives of more than 130 nations and nationalities who live in our country in an atmosphere of friendship, harmony and tolerance. In particular, the educational process in the republic's schools is conducted in 7 languages, there are about 160 national cultural centers, the media publish stories in the Karakalpak, Russian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik and Turkmen languages," the head of state said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev pointed out that much remains to be done to more fully utilize the potential of the Uzbek language, to increase its status and attractiveness on the world stage.

"The state language, as is the case in highly developed democratic countries, should first of all serve to unite society, all citizens into a single people, regardless of their language and nationality. We all deeply understand that in such a delicate and sensitive language issue for any nation, it is necessary to act far-sightedly and with restraint, without giving in to excessive emotions,” he said.

To strengthen the atmosphere of respect and compliance with the laws in the country, in particular, the consistent implementation of the law “On the state language”, “we must all demonstrate high culture and mutual understanding,” the president noted.

“The issues of increasing the number and airtime of programs on teaching the state language on TV and radio channels and Internet sites, publishing additional literature, dictionaries and manuals for those who study the language on their own will always be in the center of our attention,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

The Uzbek language is planned to be popularized online, adding it to major software products, he added.
