Today, in Ashgabat, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the international forum "Interconnectivity of Times and Civilizations - the Basis of Peace and Development" dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy, the presidential press service said.

The forum, chaired by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, was also attended by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, heads of parliaments, and heads of international and regional organizations.

In his remarks, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that holding the forum was an important step "towards strengthening fraternal ties and bringing peoples closer together, as well as popularizing the rich spiritual heritage throughout the world."

The president noted that Magtymguly Pyragy legacy enriched not only the classical poetry of the East, but also world literature. "I am proud to note that the people of Uzbekistan also highly appreciate and love Magtymguly," he said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev added that this year Uzbekistan will widely celebrate the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy's birth. "Today, streets and alleys in our capital and provinces are named after Magtymguly. Monuments to this great figure have been erected in Tashkent and Khiva," he added.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed the holding of a global summit in Ashgabat next year as part of the "International Year of Peace and Trust" declared by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov voiced gratitude to the Uzbek leader for his remarks and announced the decision to award Shavkat Mirziyoyev a medal on the ocassion with Magtymguly’s anniversary.

Reportedly, a final document was adopted following the forum.
