In January-August, the transit of Russian oil to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan increased by 30% to 2023, Pavel Sorokin, Russia First Deputy Energy Minister said at a press briefing.

"In 2024, from January to August, the supply of oil from Russia via Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan increased by almost 30 percent to the figures of 2023," Sorokin said.

He thanked the Kazakh partners "for their constructive approach in this regard". Speaking about the transit of Russian oil to China through Kazakhstan, Sorokin reminded that the volume of deliveries to China in 2023 was 10 million tons. "This year we expect to achieve similar figures," he said.

It was previously reported that the volume of oil transit from Russia to Uzbekistan in 2023 reached 154,300 tons. In 2024, Uzbekistan plans to increase the volume of oil imports up to 500,000 tons.
