Botir Zakhidov has been named as the Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction. This was announced by the president Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a government meeting on Monday, his spokesman Sherzod Asadov reported.
He replaced in this position Ministry of Employment has been headed by Bekhzod Musayev Since the end of December.
Botir Zakhidov, 42, has been working as the mayor of the Shaykhantakhur district since September 2022. Previously, since 2020, he worked as the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank. He graduated from the Tashkent Finances Institute in 2003 and the Banking and Finance Academy in 2008. He has 20 years of experience in the banking sector.
Before announcing the replacing of the minister, the president said that in 2024, it was planned to lift 500 thousand people out of poverty this year, and another 1 million people in 2025.
According to the president, these goals cannot be achieved with the current leadership at the Ministry of Employment. The Agency for the Work of Mahallas and the Development of Entrepreneurship will be dissolved, and all its functions and assistants to mayors will be transferred to the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction.
