, Tashkent will host the Destination: Tashkent Film and Discourse Festival From September 26 to 29. The event is organized by the House of World Culture in Berlin (HKW) and the Goethe-Institut Uzbekistan.

The festival program includes screenings of historical films from the Tashkent Festival of African, Asian and Latin American Cinema (1968-1988), contemporary works by Central Asian directors, as well as discussions, cultural events and meetings with the film community.

As part of the festival, the vernissage of the Destination: Tashkent archival exhibition will open on September 20 at the Ilkhom Theater. The exhibition will tell the history of the Tashkent Film Festival and will last until October 14. Visitors will be able to see photographs from the National Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents of Uzbekistan, as well as artifacts and archival film materials from the history of the festival.

The main events will take place at the Goethe-Institut, MOC Hub and the Alisher Navoi Cinema Palace.

19:30 — Film Screening and Talk with Director Ali Khamraev and Jan Sungu, Curator of Film Studies at HKW.

September 27, MOC Hub

10:30 — Introduction by researcher Elena Razgalova about the Tashkent Film Festival and translation practices;

11:15 —Screening of movie: “Tashkent 58−88” by director Zumrad Mirzalieva with a live introduction;

12:00 — Panel I: Tashkent Film Festival 1968−1988 as a Cinematic Contact Zone;

14:30 — Panel II: Film Industry Spaces in Tashkent and Beyond;

16:15 — Screening of short films from Central Asia: a selection from CinemaLove Festival;

18:30 — Screening of short films from Central Asia: a selection from Nomsiz Festival.

September 28

10:00 — Tashkent tour with Alexander Fedorov, author of the Tashkent Modernism project (starting at the Uzbekistan Hotel, with a visit to places associated with the historical film festival);

16:00 — Screening of a historical film at MOC Hub;

18:00 — Pilaf for festival guests at MOC Hub;

19:30 — Screening of a historical film on the roof of the Zhemchug house;

After — Party with a DJ on the roof of the Zhemchug house.

September 29

11:00 — Morning brunch in the Goethe-Institut garden and screening of an archival film;

14:00 — Excursion: Archival exhibition and theater at MOC Hub, Cinema Palace and Ilkhom Theater;

15:30, 18:00 and 20:30 — Screening of films at MOC Hub and Cinema Palace;

18:30 — Screening of a film by Women Watch Uzbekistan at Tashkent Film School.
