The XVI Tashkent International Film Festival - Pearl of the Silk Road will take place at the end of September, to be organized by the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture and the National Cinematography Development Center.
According to the organizers, more than 400 films in the full-length and short film categories from 60 countries were submitted for the contest to be selected by the international jury.
For the first time, the festival will feature a forum dedicated to the animated films of the countries of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY).
The festival program also includes events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Indian actor Raj Kapoor, a retrospective of films by French actor Alain Delon, master classes from foreign directors and actors: Majid Majidi, Avtandil Makharadze and Hema Malini.
"Negotiations with world movie stars are ongoing," the organizers conlcuded in a statement.
