Today, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the presidential press service said.
The Russian PM landed in Tashkent to attend the fifth meeting of the Joint Commission at the level of the heads of government of Uzbekistan and Russia.
During the talks, the parties discussed the ways to further expand the Uzbek-Russian ties and emphasized the importance of taking coordinated measures to maintain the dynamics of trade turnover, support and accelerate cooperation projects in industry, energy, agriculture, transport and other priority sectors of the economy.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also spoke in favor of "building up practical cooperation at the provincial level, continuing intensive cultural and humanitarian exchanges, organizing effective cooperation in the field of migration."
According to the press service of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin then met with Uzbek presidential aide Saida Mirziyoyeva. They reportedly discussed the bilateral ties in a number of important areas of bilateral cooperation, including economics, culture and education, with special attention paid to the area of labor migration.
