On September 4-5, Tashkent will host the 10th International Conference of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the 2nd Conference of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Combating Terrorism and Extremism, UzA said.
They are expected to involve delegations of the concerned authorities of the SCO and CIS member states, working structures of the CIS bodies, international organizations, as well as educational and scientific-analytical organizations involved in studying the problems of combating terrorism and extremism.
Delegates of the UN, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center (ATC), Interpol, the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia and other structures will be present in the events.
The main goals of the forum are reportedly to exchange best practices in combating terrorism and extremism, develop measures to improve international cooperation in this area, and form a common understanding and approaches of the participants to new challenges and threats to security.
In addition, the State Security Service of Uzbekistan, as the coordinating party of the CIS ATC, will conduct joint anti-terrorist exercises of the relevant authorities of the Commonwealth countries "East-Antiterror-2024".
The exercises will practice joint anti-terrorist measures to identify and prevent terrorist attacks at critical infrastructure facilities and in places where people gather in large numbers.
