21-year-old Uzbek national contacted the Uzbek Consulate General in Istanbul and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stating that his mother, who left for Istanbul 4 years ago, has not been in contact for 3 years, and asked for help in finding and returning her back home.
Investigations found that Kh.D., 42, was in Ushak (near Izmir), Turkey, was married to a Turkish citizen, M.G. and was since 2020 held in captivity against her will.
She was rescued in a swift operation On August 27 was organized in cooperation with the Consulate General, the representative of Foreign Labor Migration in Istanbul, the society "Protecting the rights of Uzbek women" and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey without harm to her life and health, and was taken to the Ushak city police department.
According to the Consulate in Istanbul, a criminal case has been launched against M.G. for holding a person in detention against will of the Turkish criminal code.
At present, steps are being taken to return the woman back to Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek diplomatic mission in Turkey recommended the Uzbeks not to put their lives at risk by believing in false promises, and to contact the Uzbek embassy in Ankara or the Consulate General in Istanbul in case of similar situation.
