Uzbek parliament’s delegation headed by the Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Sodiq Safoyev paid a three-day visit to the United States, Jahon IA said. 

Within the visit meetings were held with Congressmen, the officials of the Presidential Administration, the State Department, the Ministry of Commerce, businessmen, academic and expert circles, as well as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States together with the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute at Johns Hopkins University organized a briefing and a round table at the Atlantic Council, which discussed the Uzbekistan’s main development trends and preparation for presidential elections.

The Uzbek delegation stressed that the fundamental principles of foreign and domestic policy of Uzbekistan will remain the same, which includes fostering multifaceted relations with the United States.

Prior to the US visit Uzbekistan delegation visited London, where high-level meetings were held with the members of both houses of the UK Parliament, the leadership of the Foreign Office, the  members of the Uzbek-British Council on Trade and Industry, at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, as well as a number of briefings and roundtables.

The British experts have reacted positively to the steps taken by the official Tashkent on the gradual improvement of relations with neighboring countries.

The British companies expressed interest in the Uzbek market, especially in cooperation in the renewable energies, irrigation, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, chemical industry and other areas.
