In January-July 2024, the import of air conditioners to Uzbekistan decreased by 51%, the import of refrigerators and freezers by 35%, the import of microwave ovens by 13%, the import of irons by 46%, and the import of TVs by 43%. From February 1, the import of household appliances was made more difficult.

The Customs Committee launched a database of the most imported goods to Uzbekistan.

In January-July 2024, home appliances worth 556.8 million dollars were imported. The import of goods in this group decreased by 1.7% compared to last year.

Why did imports fall sharply?

Starting from February 1, 2024, the import of 13 types of household appliances to Uzbekistan requires the presence of an authorized representative or official dealer of a manufacturer.

In January-July 2024, household appliances worth 127.7 million dollars were imported to Uzbekistan. It was 176.3 million dollars in the same period last year. The decrease is 27.5 %.

The list includes:

  • aluminum radiator;
  • water heating boiler;
  • water heater;
  • steam boiler;
  • vacuum cleaner;
  • washing machine;
  • refrigerator, freezer;
  • TV, monitor;
  • household gas stove;
  • ovens, stoves;
  • microwave oven,
  • iron;
  • water boiler;
  • air conditioner;
  • water pump.

Also, since February, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners imported to Uzbekistan have been tested for energy efficiency. Without receiving this test report, they will not be issued a certificate of conformity and it will not be possible to sell the goods in Uzbekistan.

Duties have been imposed on a number of home appliances since 2019. The duty size, for example, is 30 % for air conditioners.
