On August 5, the Tashkent’s Yunusabad district criminal court issued a verdict in the criminal case against Saidaziz Saidaliyev (Saidaziz of Medtown) and 28 other people.
Saidaziz Medgorodok and several other people were arrested as suspects in the extortion case in December last year. They were accused of receiving benefits by extorting and "solving the problems" of people with debts.
Following the trial, Judge Murod Mirzajonov found him guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of imprisonment in a general colony.
Saidaliyev was charged under Extortion, Fraud, Organization of a crime group, Legalization of proceeds from criminal activity, Hooliganism and Complicity in bribery charges of the Criminal Code.
The defendant partially pleaded guilty.
In November and December last year, law enforcement agencies conducted large-scale raids to identify and arrest members of street gangs and crime groups.
The first deputy head of the Tashkent police department, Doniyor Tashkhodjaev, noted that the operation to detain the suspects began after careful collection of evidence and preparation, which lasted "not one or two days, but months and even years."
Earlier, the courts issued sentences to Azlarkhon Mukhamedzhanov (5 years), Sunatulla Kholmuradov (7.5 years), Umidzhon Urinov (6 years 11 months), Alibek Fayziev (12 years), Olimzhon Amonov (4 years), Bakhodir Sultanov (Bokho zavkhoz, 10 years), Niyoz Ibodov (4 years) and others.
In addition, on July 19, the court issued a sentence against Bakhtiyor Kudratullaev (Bakhti of Tashkent city), his sons and brother, as well as 33 other people.
